Structured Literacy Reading Specialist · New Orleans, LA

I've spent 19+ years in New Orleans schools watching kids labeled "struggling readers" transform into confident ones — not through tricks or memorization, but through the Science of Reading. What works isn't magic. It's systematic, explicit, structured literacy instruction. Every child can learn to read when they're taught the way the brain actually learns.

Read. Play. Atelier. is my answer to a question I hear constantly from families: "What can we do at home?" I built every tool here the same way I build every lesson — rooted in research, designed for real kids, and delivered with care.

I'm also the author of The Vowel Story, creator of the CLOVER syllable framework, and the operator of Ms. Ashley Reading Coach (MARC) — a one-on-one structured literacy coaching practice serving families across New Orleans.

Questions?
We've got answers.

What is the Science of Reading?
The Science of Reading is a body of research — built over decades — that tells us exactly how the brain learns to read. It points to structured, systematic, explicit phonics instruction as the most effective approach for all readers, including those with dyslexia. Every tool in the Atelier is built on this research.
Is this right for my child if they don't have a diagnosis?
Absolutely. The Science of Reading isn't just for struggling readers or kids with dyslexia — it's how all brains learn to read. Whether your child is just starting out, hitting a wall, or reading fluently but not deeply understanding, there's a tool here for them.
How is this different from other reading apps?
Most reading apps are built by tech companies. Read. Play. Atelier. was built by a real reading specialist who has worked one-on-one with struggling readers for 19+ years. Every tool reflects what actually works in real sessions — not what's easy to gamify. The AI adapts to your child's level and gives real, SoR-aligned feedback.
What age is this for?
The tools are designed for readers ages 4–12, with AI that adapts difficulty based on your child's age and skill level. Sound Spotter, for example, gives very different tasks to a 5-year-old versus a 9-year-old — while checking the same underlying skills.
Do I need to sit with my child during sessions?
For younger children (ages 4–6), yes — a parent or caregiver should be present to help type responses and stay engaged. For older children (ages 7+), most sessions can be done independently. The parent dashboard lets you review progress after every session.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes — cancel anytime, no questions asked. Your free tier access stays active even after canceling a paid plan.
Is my child's data stored or shared?
No session content is stored or shared. The Atelier doesn't collect or retain your child's responses. We take privacy seriously — especially for children.
